Event Details

Come along to Guildhall to enjoy a showcase of Chinese arts, as a variety of performers and speakers open a window on this ancient and beautiful culture, to tell stories of those who have travelled halfway across the world to settle in Gloucester.

We’ll be treated to a spectacular demonstration of traditional Chinese dance, costume, music, poetry, folk tales – all interwoven with local history, with opportunities to participate and discover a rich heritage.

Our community producer, Candice Yu, will introduce us to performers and artists, including the Oriental Heritage Enchanting group, Ella Backhouse, Jinjing, Zhuzhu, Gigi, Estelle, Helen Marriott, Wendy Mo-Keat, and Sasha Wilson.

Approximate programme;
4:00 – 5:00pm performances and talks
5:00 – 5:30pm interval
5:30 – 6:30pm performances and talks
6:30 – 7:00pm interval
7:00 – 8:00pm performances and talks

Activities will be available throughout the event; Calligraphy, Chinese painting, Tea taste , Antic furniture, Qigong, Taichi and Food Stand

Drop in between 4 and 8pm – this event is free, however booking is essential.

By train: Gloucester train station is approximately an 8 minute walk. The Station is part of several major lines including Cardiff Central, Birmingham New Street and London Paddington. By bus: The nearest bus stop is outside Boots, however Gloucester Transport Hub is only a 5 minute walk.

By bike: There is on-street bicycle parking outside Boots on Eastgate Street, unfortunately they do not have anywhere to store your bike on-site.

By car: The building is accessible from the Kings Walk car park, there is accessible parking available and an access ramp from the car park to the entrance of the building.
