Tewkesbury Stitch Story

Event Details

10am-5pm Monday to Friday
10am-4pm on Saturday
12noon – 2.30pm on Sunday

This astonishing collaborative artwork, led by Community Artist Jo Teague, and produced by Tewkesbury Culture, saw over 8000 local people contribute a hand embroidered panel of the history of Tewkesbury. It will be on display alongside some of the Cathedral’s historic collection of textiles with local resonance.

Also showing in the Cloisters are three wonderful collaborative pieces from Gloucester based groups:

She Spoke – Banner led by Aysha Randera from the Emma Willis Sewing Studio, and poetry with Halima Malek from Strike a Light and 26 women from Gloucester and Cheltenham

Stitch in Time – Co-created by Jacqui Grange and Halima Malek, with Faatimah and Maryam Bham,  Amy Freeman, Ally Goff, , Sajeeda Hassanjee, Nafisa Jadwat, Rainey Jayne, Farah Kriel,  Morag Potter, Sarah Snell Pym, Lou Spira and Elizabeth Wall

Sewing Seeds – Environmentally inspired quilt for Gloucestershire Archives, Facilitated by Halima Malek and Morag Potter, and created by the She Stitched Group – Faatimah & Maryam Bham, Amy Freeman, Ally Goff, Jacqui Grange, Nafisa Jadwat, Cooper & Rainey Jayne, Farah Kriel, Louise Spira, Elisabeth Wall, with contributions from Heritage Hub staff Helen Bartlet, Claire Collins and Rihanna Watson
